Privacy

This site carries no advertising and sells nothing. The only thing we measure is how people find and read the articles, so we know which parts of world history to write about next.

What we use

Google Analytics 4 records page views, referrers, approximate location (country and city level), device type and browser language. It sets cookies in your browser to tell one visit from another. We have switched off Google Signals and ad personalisation, so the data is not used to build advertising profiles, and IP addresses are handled in anonymised form.

Nothing else on the page calls an outside server: the fonts are the ones already on your device, and there are no social widgets, comment systems or trackers.

What we do not do

We do not collect names, email addresses or accounts, because the site has none. We do not sell or share data with anyone else, and we do not use it for advertising.

Pages are served by Cloudflare, which processes requests and may keep short-lived logs for security and traffic handling. See the Cloudflare privacy policy.
